What is NieR Heardle?

NieR Heardle is a free music quiz in the browser, inspired by Heardle: you hear 1 s of a NieR track and guess the track title, with longer clips if you need them. Every day brings a new daily challenge, the same for everyone, plus a 30-level quest and unlimited free play.

How the NieR Heardle quest works

The quest is a 30-level pass whose challenges rotate between game modes. You get one try a day, plus one if you beat the daily challenge, and every few levels unlock XP and cosmetics.

Three cups can also be played without limit: Novice (5 well-known tracks, 3 hearts), Veteran (8 tracks, clip shifted by 20 s, 2 hearts) and Final Boss (5 rare tracks, clip shifted by 15 s, 1 heart).

The music of NieR

Keiichi Okabe and studio MONACA's soundtracks blend vocals in made-up languages, piano and orchestra. Many tracks exist in several versions (quiet, active, with or without vocals), which makes naming the title demanding, from NieR Replicant to NieR: Automata and NieR Reincarnation. The voices of Emi Evans and J'Nique Nicole are often the best clue. Replicant also got a remastered version in 2021, and Reincarnation, released on mobile, has its own soundtrack to recognise.
